“I knew what I wanted to do at an early age. I realized that everybody I knew had a boat, and everybody needed to have it serviced.”
Andy enrolled at Upper Cape Regional Technical High School to study Marine Services, started in Falmouth boat yards and specialized in Yamaha outboards. With enough side work to go out on his own, in 1992 he bought an old tool truck, turned it into a mobile workshop and “The Boat Guy” was born. As the projects and clients grew, he bought his first location in Cataumet.
It’s a family business. His mother was office manager and his father worked on the boats with him; his wife Jessica joined in 2010 to manage the offices and finances, and his brother Mark joined management in 2016. The kids are often found around the boat yard and the power equipment store, learning the trade. The Boat Guy family has grown to dozens of valued employees. In 2015 they opened a second location on MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne, offering Tidewater Boats, three outboard lines and many lawn and garden equipment lines.
